Evesham Wood Dundee Hills Pinot Noir
$47.73
Founded by Russ Raney in 1986 after training with the legendary Henri Jayer in Vosne-Romanée, the estate started with 3.23 hectares of vineyards planted on the eastern side of the Eola-Amity Hills ridge. Known locally as “Spring Valley”, the area has one of the best microclimates in all of Oregon. After twenty years of making wine, Russ and his wife Mary began working closely with Erin Nuccio. Feeling the time was right, they sold the winery to Erin in 2010, who has maintained the same approach to winemaking.
This wine is something different for Evesham Wood. Usually Erin works with grapes from 4 vineyards – Le Puits Sec, Mahonia, Illahe, and Temperance Hill. In 2018 though, he was offered the chance to work with some very high quality sustainably farmed grapes from a prominent grower in Dundee Hills. Initially destined to go into the Willamette Valley blend, Erin separated off 9 barrels that showed particular promise. Agreeing not to divulge his source, Eric decidedly to bottle this single vineyard wine. Very elegant with stunning cherry rose aromas, it is delicious now but will continue to develop for 5-6 years.
