Dormilona Yokel Verdelho

$35.62

With extensive winemaking experience in the new and old world (10 vintages in France, several years in the US, New Zealand and elsewhere in Australia, plus 7 years running 2 wineries in Spain and another in the Canary Islands.) winemaker Josephine Perry is a leader of Australia’s “new wave” of winemaking. Dormilona is a Spanish nickname for ‘lazy bones’ – Jo’s nickname for struggling to stay up for the late Spanish dinners.  Jo’s husband, Jim is a viticulturist and aside from farming their home block according to organic and biodynamic principles, is Jo’s eye’s for fruit selection across Margaret River.

This is how Jo describes this wine – “Verdelho is a classic variety from the Swan Valley, lost in the wave of alternate varieties planted over the years. This fruit is from the traditional Lamonts vineyard planting, upper Swan, 80 years of age & dry grown. Hand harvest, then destemmed into open for slight skin contact, basket pressed straight to tank for a chill ferment. Battonaged on heavy lees for 5 months, full malo then racked & a touch of sulphur at bottling.”
