Founded by David Chapel and Michele Smith-Chapel, Domaine Chapel is a small winery based in the pretty Beaujolais cru village of Régnié. It was while working at famed Domaine Lapierre that David met his future wife Michele, a wine director based in Brooklyn, New York. The couple released their first vintage in 2018 in partnership with Mathieu and Camille Lapierre. This wine is made from grapes harvested from a 3 hectares vineyard in the Côte de Bessay lieu-dit in Juliénas. The goblet vines range in age from 40-65 years, and are planted to a mix of granite and pierres bleues (dark blue schist) soils. Partially fermented with carbonic maceration and natural yeasts for 3 weeks, it was aged for 11 months and bottled without filtering.
