Description
The Conterno Fantino winery was established in 1982 by Claudio Conterno and Guido Fantino. Today they tend 27 hectares of prime parcels of vines, which are planted to Nebbiolo, Barbera, Dolcetto, and Chardonnay. In the winery Claudio and Guido have been joined by Alda, Fabio and Elisa Fantino. Overall their style of Barolo leans to more modern techniques: shorter maceration times and the use of French barrels.
The Conterno Fantino Barbera d’Alba “Vignota” is made from grapes harvested from 15-22 year old vines in Monforte d’Alba. Ruby red in the glass, it has a fruity and herbaceous bouquet with notes of ripe cherry on the palate. Flavorful and expressive, it has a lingered dry finish.
