Clos Bellane is a small and unique domaine situated high in the hills outside Valréas, in the northernmost section of the Southern Rhône. The organically managed vineyards have been owned since 2010 by famed winemaker Stephane Vedeau, whose goal it has been to make a fresher style of Côtes du Rhône Villages. The Clos Bellane Cotes du Rhone Villages Valreas is made from a blend of Grenache and Syrah grapes that were hand-harvested from steep valley-side vineyards. The average vine age is 30 years. The grapes were partially de-stemmed and vinified with natural yeasts. Ageing was in a combination of concrete tanks and old Burgundy casks. Purplish red in the glass, this medium bodied wine combines refreshing fruit character with structural complexity.
