Schiava is a cool climate red grape found in the hills of Alto Adige in Northern Italy, as well as in Germany where it is known as Trollinger or Vernatsch. Crazy synonyms aside, this grape is known for producing light bodied, refreshing red wines and this gem is no exception.
This is pure joy in a bottle and the staff at Vine Arts fell in love with at first taste. The colour is bright and clear, so light that it is borderline rose! This is 100% Schiava harvested by hand and kept in stainless steel for a short period before bottling. The wine is bursting with notes of wild strawberry, rose petals, cranberry and raspberry. Serve it with a slight chill to accentuate the freshness. This is a great alternative for lovers of Pinot Noir or Gamay looking to try something new!
