Located just below the Castello of Barolo itself, this property was basically unknown outside the local area until Amabile Drocco brought the estate in 1999 and began modernization. Now one of Barolo’s upcoming superstar wineries, the wine from Cascina Adelaide has received many accolades including multiple above 90-point ratings in The Wine Spectator and Wine Enthusiast, 91 points for the Barolo Preda in Veronelli, and was winner of 5 stars in Decanter Magazine. 

But point scores don’t really tell the story of these wines. Cascina Adelaide’s wines have a unique style. Walking a tightrope between the modernists and the traditionalists, Sergio Molino is crafting Barolos of incredible purity, with a clarity and precision of fruit that is a revelation. They have the “stuff” of traditional Barolos, which becomes evident as they age, but what is amazing is that they are approachable younger without giving up anything in the long run. They taste like Barolo, age like Barolo, and develop a certain weight and power as they age, and yet offer (relatively) immediate pleasures soon after release.
