Adega da Cartuxa is an icon of Alentejo’s wine industry. The business was founded by the Eugénio de Almeida family in the nineteenth century. Today Adega da Cartuxa is managed by a foundation that was setup in the family ‘s name – the Fundação Eugénio de Almeida. The foundation farms 600 hectares of vineyards and produces wines at two separate facilities – Quinta de Valbom and Monte de Pinheiros.
In appearance this wine is pale silver yellow in color with greenish inflections. The nose is defined by fresh aromas of squeezed lemon, grapefruit, beeswax and chamomile. The light bodied palate is animated by sharp acidity, lean minerality, and zesty citrus fruit flavors that linger into the refreshingly dry finish. A pleasing everyday white wine.
