Boulevard Napoléon Cinsault
$32.13
“We started our little winery project, Boulevard Napoléon some twelve years ago. Much like the original St. JOHN, the winery is named after the street on which it sits – a boulevard (well, a very narrow “boulevard”), called after Napoléon. Our first vintage was 2011. Nowadays we know that we make wines that age and evolve well, but as Trevor said back then (with a gulp), “”only time will tell!”
Above the village of La Livinière-en-Minervois in the Montagne Noir we have our own vineyards up at l’Aberadou and we still work parcellaire with local vignerons. Benjamin, our good friend, colleague and the man on the ground at the winery, gives direction on the viticulture and the harvest, our small picking cases, our team and his call on the “when”, day or night as the fruit demands. The winery effectively operates 24 hours a day during harvest! Our interest is to make wines that are of themselves and not to some flavour or customer profile. We want them to represent each vintage and to demonstrate that the future is not just in price point driven, “supermarché” wines, but that there is both a place and prospect for craft winemaking. Recently we have been garnering important review points up in the proper 90s internationally, not that we are one for points or gongs but, hey, we’ll take them, happily!” – St.John
